CAREER

what do i care for
my career, its ridiculous

trajectory –

none of this
matters to me.

at my most desperate
i grasp poems out

of thin air and memory,
each defying the absence

of relevance and creating
solid ground

beneath me.
from now on

i work for poetry.

Yes!

"each defying the absence

of relevance and creating
solid ground

beneath me.
from now on

i work for poetry."

Glad you like this poem, or at least these stanzas. I was very proud of it when I wrote it. Lifted me up, oddly enough, for a day or two.

I enjoyed the poem. Writing a poem you're proud of is funny like that: it lifts you up out of the banality, stress, or whatever, for a couple of days. You're in this transcendent mood for a bit.
